Founding Cohort — First Class Tuesday, July 14, 2026

Most adults quit guitar because their fingers won't cooperate. That's exactly what we fix.

The Finger Fluency Club is a live weekly class built on one idea: train the hands first, and the music follows. Just like the gym keeps your body in shape, the Finger Gym gets your fingers working at their best — so you can finally play what you hear in your head.

The Finger Gym Starter Course

Not sure your fingers can do this? Prove it to yourself before you spend a dollar. The Starter Course is a free, self-paced introduction to the Finger Fluency method — delivered on SoundSlice interactive notation, the same living practice environment Club members use every week.

  • A real Finger Gym workout for each hand — gentle, progressive, beginner-safe
  • Interactive notation & TAB that plays synchronized audio while you follow along
  • Slow any passage to 50% speed and loop the hard parts — on any device
  • A short welcome from Ron so you know exactly who you'd be training with

This isn't a PDF you'll print and lose, and it isn't a passive video. It's the actual tool. If you like how your hands feel after a week, the Club is the next step.

"Your fingers are capable of far more than you think — they just need the right training."

You Go to the Gym for Your Body. Come to the Finger Gym for Your Hands.

Most guitar methods start with songs. Finger Fluency starts with your hands — because adult fingers need targeted physical training before anything else makes sense.

Ron Franklin developed the Finger Fluency Workout system teaching adult learners at San Diego College of Continuing Education: people who'd always wanted to play but hit a wall because nobody had trained their fingers first.

Typical approach

  • Start with songs
  • Get frustrated by fingers
  • Plateau early
  • Give up

Finger Fluency

  • Train the hands first
  • Build real facility
  • Apply to any music
  • Keep progressing

What You'll Build in the Finger Gym

Every Tuesday, 90 minutes live on Zoom. Six hours of real instruction every month — built for adults with daytime flexibility: retirees, remote workers, and second-act musicians.

🎸

Flat Pick Workouts

Develop right-hand control and accuracy for single-note lines — at your own pace, applied immediately to real music you'll enjoy playing.

🤌

Finger Style Workouts

Train your fingers to move independently — the foundation of fingerpicking that finally sounds the way you hear it in your head.

Left Hand Workouts

Adult hands need targeted training to build dexterity, reach, and speed — including the Barre chord and chord changes that stop most players cold.

🧠

Fretboard Logic

Most adults feel lost on the fretboard. We fix that with a logical, visual approach that makes the guitar's layout finally make sense.

🎼

New Music Repertoire

Technique without music is just exercise. Every workout connects to real pieces you'll actually want to play — notation and TAB, all levels.

💻

Live Weekly Classes

Tuesdays, 10am Pacific. A supportive live class where you ask questions, get real feedback from Ron, and progress alongside fellow adult learners.

What Happens in 90 Minutes

1

Warmup & Activation

Targeted finger warmups that wake up both hands — gentle, progressive, and effective even for complete beginners.

2

Technique Drilling

The core of every class. Focused workouts for flat pick, fingerstyle, or left-hand technique — Ron demonstrates, you play along and get feedback.

3

Repertoire Application

We take what we drilled and apply it to a real piece of music — so technique immediately becomes music you can actually play.

4

Q&A & Practice Assignment

Class closes with your questions and a focused practice assignment so the progress continues all week.

Slow It Down. Loop It. Hear Exactly What Your Hands Should Be Doing.

Every piece in the Finger Fluency library is available on SoundSlice — interactive notation that plays back synchronized audio while you follow along in standard notation and TAB.

This isn't a PDF you'll print and lose. It's a living practice environment you use between every class — on any device. You can try it right now: the free Starter Course above runs on the same tool.

  • Slow any passage to 50% speed without changing pitch
  • Loop difficult sections on repeat
  • Follow notation and TAB simultaneously
  • Works on desktop, tablet, or phone

Ron Franklin

Emmy Award Winner • MM Guitar Performance • Adjunct Professor • Published Author

Ron Franklin has spent decades turning guitar students into genuine players — currently at San Diego Community College District, where he teaches Guitar & Ukulele, and now through the Finger Fluency Club, his private music studio for adult learners of all levels.

The Finger Fluency method grew out of a simple observation: most adult beginners don't fail because they lack musical ability — they fail because nobody trained their fingers first. Ron built the Finger Fluency Workout system specifically to solve that problem.

Ron holds a Master of Music in Guitar Performance from Texas Tech University. His career spans Hollywood production, international media technology sales across 57 cities and 13 countries, and a published catalog of original music. He earned an Emmy Award as co-producer for the Good Food Factory TV Show, for which he wrote and performed 15 songs. Member of BMI since 1987.

Frequently Asked

Finger Fluency Club is designed for adult learners at all levels — including complete beginners. The method was built specifically for people who feel like their fingers won't cooperate. If you can hold a guitar, you can benefit and improve.
Simple: attend your first live class as a guest before you're ever charged. If it's a fit, join as a member. If not, you've lost nothing but 90 minutes — and your fingers will still be better off than when you started. Register for the Open House or email ron@fingerfluency.com to claim your guest seat.
The first 20 members of the Club join at $60/month instead of $80 — and that rate is locked in for as long as you remain a member, even as the regular price rises. It's Ron's thank-you for being part of the founding cohort that shapes the Club.
Any guitar (acoustic, classical, or electric), a device with Zoom installed, and a willingness to play. A music stand is helpful but not required. A free SoundSlice account is recommended for following interactive notation and TAB between classes.
The live class meets Tuesdays at 10am Pacific, which suits retirees, remote workers, and anyone with daytime flexibility. Every session is recorded and available to members, so you can train on your own schedule — and an evening cohort will open once the founding cohort fills. Join the free Starter Course list to be notified first.
All sessions are recorded and available to members. Each class stands alone as a complete workout while building on the overall Finger Fluency method — so missing one won't set you back.
Completely different. Videos and apps are passive — nobody watches you play. Finger Fluency Club is a live, interactive class where Ron sees you play, responds to your questions in real time, and holds you accountable. The structured curriculum and live community are what produce results — not video watching.
Yes — cancel anytime before your next billing date with no charges and no cancellation fees. And new members are covered by a 30-day money-back guarantee: if the Club isn't for you, email Ron within 30 days of joining for a full refund.
